Bus Uncle

1. Do you see videos such as “Bus uncle” and its copies as a good addition to creative culture?
The original copy of "Bus uncle" may bit be so creative, as the author just simply recorded what happened without any shooting skills in terms of editing, lighting. etc. His intention was not to do something creative but only to share with the public this incident. Maybe his attitude of sharing things could be creative since Hong Kong people seldom did such things in the past time.
However, the copies of the video can see a lot of creative features, for example, the editing, the computer graphic design, the song and the video message, all of them are original and show creativity. This can somehow encourage people to think of a different way to create things.

2. Is the wide availability of such videos a good thing for society or not?
There are some advantages but also disadvantages. For the good things, people can know more about the current situation of the society, which is the great pressure from working the Bus uncle has mentioned that most Hong Kong people are facing. It somehow encourages creativity, and the motive to do new things. Yet, some foul languages in the video are not good to society. And the video would worsen the situation of cyber-bullying.

3. How many viewers are estimated to have watched the Youtube video?
A few millions views has been recorded for the original copy. In Youtube, materials are shared very quickly and a lot of people can access to different kinds of videos.

4. How would you rate the video?
-Is it of high quality in technical terms? Is it interesting aesthetically, e.g. camera angles, use of light, the narrative, and so on?
It does not have good quality in filming technical terms. The author did not consider camera angle and lighting because he just wanted to record but not to do things creative. But in the other copies by other people, the editing skills, narrative and songs are very interesting elements and they are quite closed to the term "art".

-Does it raise interesting socio-cultural issues?
Certainly. There are a lot of socio-cultural issues that can be discussed from the video. For example, the heavy stress due to fast-paced working environment in Hong Kong, the increasing aggressiveness of Hong Kong people that conduced to the dispute, the lack of empathy, the lack of respect towards privacy and the impact of cyber-bullying are important issues. They have influenced even harmed people in every second right now so the issues deserve concern from Hong Kong society.

5. Do you think it deserved the attention that it received from the internet community?
The internet community should pay attention to such videos. From the videos, the internet users would have the opportunity to do their critical thinking and judging what is right and what is wrong. So this can help develop a correct attitude towards social or internet issues. We should learn the good things but to avoid doing the wrong things in our life. The videos can make audience to do their own reflection to some extent. Also, the big number of views show that information on Internet can be shared in a very fast rate. This has highlighted the importance of Internet and its great impact on internet users.
